The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) will be the world’s largest free trade area in terms of membership (55 countries) and it is poised to usher immense opportunities for Africa and investors alike.Africa has often been described as the new frontier for global growth and several African countries have indeed experienced a high rate of economic growth as a result of foreign direct investment. The Agreement establishing the AfCFTA (“the Agreement”), provides for a number of protocols which form an integral part of the Agreement, one of which is the Investment Protocol which is currently being negotiated.
